Stacey Stewart

I first started Bikram Yoga in September 2010. Since my birthday the previous year I had been thinking about the need to do something to not only lose weight but to help me stay more focused and become more confidant. I am a “thinker” but being a “doer” has never been easy for me and so it took me over a year before I decided to get serious on my search for making these changes. About that time I joined Groupon and came across a deal that BYG had. Even though yoga was the only form of exercise I had ever found to be a good match for me, I had never done “hot” yoga. I had to “think”. I looked at the website several times, mulled the decision for hours and finally bought the deal. A few weeks later I took my first class.

That class was one of the hardest and easiest things I had done in a long time. I briefly thought about not returning because it might be too hard, but the friendliness of the staff and the encouragement I had felt as soon as I walked in the door was the draw that kept me coming. That, and probably more importantly, the changes I, friends, and family could see in me both physically and mentally are what keep me on this journey even when I choose to wander down a diverted path for a while.

So, when the opportunity arose for me to interview to possibly join the BYG team as an administrative assistant it was a no-brainer. I knew I wanted to be able to share the encouragement and positive experience with current and new students and the staff. I immediately said yes to accepting this position – the first job I have not had to think about accepting.

Now, better than ever, I know growth is hard work, but worth every step, I look forward to where this journey is going for me. And now my added goal is to share it with you with the same acceptance, encouragement, and friendliness that I felt on that first day.
