I've been practicing Bikram Yoga since January 22, 2010 and just completed my first 60 day challenge on February 19, 2011!

How did I get started with Bikram?
Well….. I moved from Minnesota to help open Nutrition Addiction in Grapevine, May 2009. And, Brad Lambert discovered us in December. He later brought Stacey in for a membership (shake, tea, aloe); and ultimately Stacey and I sat down to discuss how we could work together to provide nutrition information for her students. Once we had a plan in that regard, Stacey said, "well, you know.... if I'm going to work with you, then I'd like to see you try my yoga."

Well, I knew NOTHING about yoga….. I had the nutritional part of my life figured out but was not settled into any specific workout. Over the years, I had bounced around from swimming laps, golf, racquetball, Nordic trak, and the ROM. So, I asked Stacey, one or two days a week? NO….. minimum of 3 but 5 or 6 is better. H-m-m-m-m. Not sure I can do that…..
BUT I sharpened the pencil on my calendar for TIME; and I started with 3 days the first week, AND immediately went to 4 days a week, and by July had increased to 5 days a week.

Day one in yoga for me was HORRIBLE - I ate oatmeal and had a cup of coffee one hour prior to class and I DID NOT feel good at all in my first class. In fact, I was one of those who left the room……. Yikes… only to have Stacey reel me back in – ugh. Day two was not so horrible - and day three I was hooked. Yoga is the only place I know of where you cannot hold thoughts of anything besides what you are supposed to be doing – an amazing mind dump occurs.

I figured out how, when and what to eat! I lost one pound each month the first nine months; and when I started the challenge I gained 4 pounds which reflected a nice overall change in lean body mass.

I love the mind, body, soul of the partnership of Bikram and Nutrition Addiction in my life. It's an absolutely FABULOUS marriage! AND, what's even more awesome is my husband shares my passion. Happiness is success; and I'm an extremely happy gal!
