Blair Chozen How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga? Most recently 6 months, but I was introduced to it and practiced about once a week when I was living in Maui. It was a great supplement to the running races I did there. What was your life/body like before you started practicing Bikram Yoga? Before I started practicing frequently, I had back pain that I couldn’t get rid of, my muscles were tight, neck cocked forward, shoulders hunched, and had a few pounds to shed. What motivated you to take your first class? Curiosity How often do you practice? Most recently 5-6 times a week, and they are not lying when they say if you are looking to see “significant changes” in your body, practice as much as you can. How has your life/body changed since you started practicing? It’s really amazing how you notice one thing after another change and how your troubles slowly disappear. I’ve noticed my neck is closer to proper alignment, my shoulders have rolled back, my upper torso has lengthened, all muscles are toning and showing definition, I can see the muscles in my stomach again, and the back pain is long gone. Is there anything else? Nothing like meeting up with friends & family I haven’t seen in a while, and having them say “You look great, maybe “I” should start doing Bikram Yoga”. I sometimes laugh throughout the day thinking about the motivational instructions “Come back and push, Go back and push, Go back and push, Go back and Push!”, “And… all the way up… CHANGE!” “Lock the knees, lock the knees, LOCK the Knees!” I want to say thank you to all of the Bikram Staff at both studios for always taking a genuine interest in all the students who walk through the door, it clearly shows.
