Better Focus

How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga?
I started Bikram yoga on April 12, 2011

What was your life/body like before you began practicing Bikram Yoga?
I was overweight, out of shape and bored with the gym. 

What motivated you to take your first class?
My friend Michelle took me one day and it changed my life!

How often do you practice?
I attend 6 classes a week and with my work schedule sometimes that includes taking 2 classes in one day.

How has your life/body changed since you started practicing?
For most women, our lives are our families, rarely do we take time to do something for ourselves. I was guilty of just that. Not anymore. Bikram yoga is what I choose to do for myself. I am more focused, have more energy and I feel fantastic! Being a nurse, I know how important it is to drink water but before Bikram, I rarely drank water, now water is my beverage of choice. I haven't had a diet soda or a cup of coffee since I started. My food choices are much better, I eat a lot less, I have no cravings and much to my surprise, it really hasn't been a struggle. Best of all, I lost 11 pounds in 3 weeks and the weight continues to come off. I stand taller, have more awareness of my body and how I hold myself. My flexibility improves with every posture and I can now touch my toes!! I no longer have pain in my knees and my legs no longer ache after standing on them for a 12-14 hour shift at work. I haven't had one symptom of pre-menopause and PMS is no longer a part of my vocabulary. I have found my fountain of youth in Bikram yoga.

Is there anything else?
Since starting Bikram, I have notice an improvement in myself during the postures in every class I take. I feel myself getting stronger, I can reach a little farther and get a little deeper into every pose. I have even fallen in love with the heat!! Thank you Bikram yoga for changing my life. Thank you to Stacey and all her wonderful staff, who are friendly, informative and are always happy to assist in class and to answer any of my questions. I appreciate all of you for your positive energy and encouraging words.
